Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Arlington R. Callies is the second oldest of five children and a husband of 35 years with two sons ages 25 and 30.
In 2013, Arlington wrote and published his first book entitled, Should My Child Play AAU Basketball, which was based on his 25 years of experience as an AAU track and basketball coach. In so doing, it afforded him the opportunity to foster relationships with kids in the community and teach them the value of education, resulting in scholarship opportunities.
To pay tribute to his deceased father and great civil rights icon, Dr. Rev. Raymond Aaron Callies, Sr., Arlington dedicated over the span of a year to research, interview and write The Man Behind The March, The Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr R. A. Callies, Sr. He continues to sow into the San Antonio community through his participation in the annual MLK Celebration and volunteers his time with the MLK Commission, as needed. In addition, Arlington continues to serve in the church and is a member of Covenant Community Church, where he serves as Sports Ministry Director and sings in the choir.
Arlington taught math and science at the elementary and secondary level after receiving his Associate Science degree from San Antonio College and Bachelor of. Science degree from University of Texas San Antonio. He worked as a Casualty Claims Adjuster at USAA Insurance Company for over 23 years. Currently, Arlington is a Real Estate Broker and owner of New Home Realty, LLC.
Arlington's passion is listening to and singing gospel music. He just released his debut single in October 2020, "I Really Love The Lord," that is available on iTunes. He is also working on a gospel Jazz CD to be released the summer of 2021.
